When it comes to overcoming panic attacks, any expert will tell you the importance of relaxation techniques. Since your body is suffering a tremendous amount of stress and pressure, relaxation techniques are the best way to deal with both your physical and emotional symptoms. Here are a few things that you can do.

Examine Your Panic

Understanding more about panic attacks is one of the most helpful means of overcoming panic attacks. Understand how your fight or flight responses work so that you can be a little more prepared when it comes to a panic attack.

Control What You Eat

Controlling your diet can go a long way in controlling panic attacks. Caffeine and smoking can both trigger chemical imbalances which trigger panic, so beware of consuming them in excess. If you are especially susceptible to attacks, try and refrain from both smoking and caffeine.

Control Your Breathing

Once again, breathing can really help you calm yourself down. If you can breathe deeply and concentrate on your breath instead of anything else, it can help you a lot. If you can control your hyperventilation, there are good chances that you may be able to develop the right kind of coping skills.

Practice the things that relax you and in time, if you will find that music soothes you, surround yourself with it. Meditation, yoga and exercising are some of the common relaxation techniques that work. Practice them often to keep yourself relaxed even when you are not really experiencing an attack.

Other forms of remedies:

1. Breathing Techniques
2. Exercise
3. Herbal Remedies
4. Learn to relax
5. Visualize tranquility
6. Meditation

Methods to prevent panic attacks will take some time to effectively put into practice, but with a positive attitude and a little hard work you will be in a position to control your life before you know it.

Comments

Learning to deal with panic and axiety attacks sometimes creates the need to develope a multi-tiered approach, and I believe that meditation, proper deep breathing, and physical activity play a role in reducing the strength and frequency of panic and anxiety symptoms. But, with all new skills comes the task of practicing them to the point where they are almost reflex. I know, for me, personally, that meditation is very effective in calming the mind, but the habitual practicing of the technique is at times where I fall short. So, whatever discipline you are using in conjunction with meds or other therapies, practice regularly to become more effective at these techniques.
